In the opening game of the 34th round of Virsliga we played our last home game this season against our neighbours in the tournament table. This was an important game because a win could give us a four point lead over the 9th place with 2 games to go.
Since last weeks match in Daugavpils, Oskars Klava made 4 changes in the starting line up, Kramēns (dsq), Asamoah, Grauds and Hvoiņickis were benched for Krancmanis, Melniks (returning from disqualification), Solovjovs and Soloveičiks who both were recovered from long term knee injuries.
Valentin Zekhov opened the scoring in the first half by cutting inside from the left wing and striking the ball into the near corner for his second goal of the season. 1-0.
In the start of the second half Valentin Zekhov provided an assist by crossing the ball from a free kick where Vladislavs Soloveičiks scored his first goal for our club. 2-0.
We had plenty of chances to score even more goals but the game ended with a 2-0 win which gives us a four point lead over FK Metta and a six point lead over Supernova Salaspils with two games to go, meaning that we now are secured from direct relegation.
