In 2012 the club started its first season in Virslīga, the top flight of Latvian football. Before the season the club acquired many new foreign players and the former Latvian National team fullback Oļegs Blagonadeždins was appointed as team manager.
The club finished its first season in Virsliga in 5th position with 13 wins, 10 draws and 13 loses in 36 games, finishing 10 points above city rivals FC Jurmala.
